Syfy has ordered a 13-episode third season of its hit drama series Being Human, which returned for its second season on the network last month on January 16.

Thus far, the viewership for the second season has increased by 27% in the much-coveted age bracket of 18 to 49 year olds and by 15% in overall viewers. And, it is interesting to note that women comprise 52% of the total audience for premiee episodes this season, ‘Being Human’ remains Syfy’s most female-skewing scripted series ever.

As a refresher, ‘Being Human’ stars Sam Witwer as vampire Aidan, Meaghan Rath as ghost Sally and Sam Huntington as werewolf Josh all of whom share a Boston brownstone together as they struggle to keep their supernatural secrets under wraps and resist individual temptations, striving to live as normal of lives as possible.

According to Mark Stern, President of Original Content at Syfy and Co-Head of Original Content for Universal Cable Productions, executive producers Jeremy Carver and Anna Fricke “have taken this series to new heights this year and we’re excited to see where the third season will go.”

As the latest season’s progressed new characters have been added resulting in less time spent between the core trio, how has this change affected the dynamics between the central characters?

Sam explained, “Yes, there are a lot of new characters this year which I think broadens and makes the show more rich. But at the same time, yes, it means that the three of us, Sam and Meaghan and I, didn’t get to spend as much time with each other this year. The funny thing is it didn’t change the dynamic between the three of us at all. In fact when we do get to work together, which is less often – but still often, we’re like school girls. It’s ridiculous and it makes the silliness and stupidity on set just – inappropriate.” Chuckling, he confesses, “We love each other like siblings. I mean, it’s really truly the closest I’ve ever been with my cast mates, for sure.” (KEEP READING)
